Jewellery care
To keep your Brass and gold plated jewellery glowing:
- Avoid water, sweat, and perfumes
- Store in a dry, cool place.
- Use a soft cloth to clean gently.
Cleaning Brass Jewellery:
Mild soap and water:
For light cleaning, use a solution of warm water and a few drops of mild dish soap. Gently scrub the jewellery with a soft cloth or brush, rinse thoroughly, and dry completely.
Baking soda paste:
For more tarnished pieces, make a paste with baking soda and freshly squeezed lemon juice or water. Soak your jewellery for 2-3 minutes, gently scrub with a soft cloth or brush, rinse thoroughly, and dry completely. Store in a pouch or a dry place.
Vinegar soak:
Soak your lightly tarnished brass jewellery in white vinegar for 1-3 minutes, rinse and dry thoroughly afterwards.
Preventing Tarnish:
- Store properly: Keep brass jewellery in a cool, dry place, preferably in a linen-lined jewellery box or pouch.
- Regular polishing: Use a polishing cloth to regularly clean to maintain shine and prevent tarnish buildup.
- Avoid Harsh chemicals: Don't expose brass pieces to chemicals, like bleach, perfume, or lotions, as they can cause tarnishing.
- Consider using a sealant: Applying a clear sealant, or clear nail polish can help protect the brass from oxidation.
